Booking a table
How do I book a table?
For up to nine people, book online — pick your date, time and party size and you are done. For ten or more, call us on 01992 941874 or send a private bookings enquiry, so we can set the room up properly for you.
Do you take walk-ins?
Yes, whenever we have a table free. Weekend evenings fill up, so if you are set on a particular time it is worth booking ahead.
How do I change or cancel a booking?
Call us on 01992 941874 as early as you can. The sooner we know, the easier it is for us to give the table to someone else. Bookings of ten or more guests require a deposit, which is non-refundable if cancelled within 48 hours of the booking.
Can I ask for the terrace, or a particular table?
Ask when you book — put it in the notes or call us — and we will do what we can. On a busy night we cannot always promise a specific table, but we will get as close as possible.
Groups & private hire
How many people before it counts as a private booking?
Ten or more. Below that, book as you normally would. At ten and above, call us or send an enquiry and we will put something together with you.
How many people can you seat?
The Garden Terrace takes sixty seated, or a hundred standing, and can be hired on its own. For the dining room, or the whole venue together, call us on 01992 941874 and we will talk it through.
What food do you do for private events?
Three set options: a premium three-course menu, a classic two-course menu, and a buffet of meze and small bites. All of them can be adjusted — tell us what you want and we will work to it. There is more on the private bookings page.
Can we decorate the room?
Yes, within reason. The building is 18th-century and listed, so there are limits on what can be fixed to the walls and ceilings. Tell us what you have in mind and we will tell you what is possible.
Dogs on the terrace
Are dogs welcome?
Yes — on the Garden Terrace, all year round. It is heated and covered, so it works in winter as well as summer. Water bowls and a treat are on the house.
Can my dog come into the dining room?
Dogs are terrace-only. The main dining room is kept dog-free for guests with allergies.
Is there a charge for bringing a dog?
No. Just mention it when you book, so we can seat you on the terrace and have water ready when you arrive.
What about other pets?
Dogs are what the terrace is set up for. For anything else, call us on 01992 941874 and we will see what we can do.
Food & allergies
How do I tell you about an allergy?
Tell us when you book, and tell your server again before you order. Our kitchen handles nuts, gluten, sesame and other allergens in the same space, so we would rather have the conversation face to face than have you guess from a menu.
Is there much for vegetarians?
Yes — vegetarian dishes run right through the menu, from the meze to the mains. If you are vegan, or avoiding something specific, say so when you book and we will go through the options with you. The full list is on the menu page.

What is the postcode for sat-nav?
EN9 1DU. That brings you to 21 Market Square, Waltham Abbey, in the middle of the town.
When are you open?
Monday to Thursday, 10:00 to 22:00. Friday, 10:00 to 23:00. Saturday, 09:00 to 23:00. Sunday, 09:00 to 22:00. Breakfast, lunch and dinner each run to their own times within that, and the kitchen stops serving before we close — if you are planning a late meal, call ahead and we will tell you where we are that night.
Where can I park?
We are on Market Square, in the middle of Waltham Abbey. Parking arrangements change with the day and the time, so call us on 01992 941874 before you set off and we will tell you where is best.
